Now You Can Exchange Leftover Euros For Bitcoin or Ethereum At Amsterdam Airport!

Amsterdam is one of my favourite places in the world and now I have another reason to love it more than I ever did! Because Schiphol Airport has installed a Bitcoin ATM which will allow you to exchange your leftover Euros for Bitcoin as well as Ethereum cryptocurrency!

This has made Schiphol airport the first one of its kind in the European Union. The Bitcoin ATM has been installed for an initial 6 month trial period where they will assess the demand for such a service amongst passengers travelling through its terminals.

Starting now, passengers at Schiphol can exchange their leftover euros for Bitcoin or Ethereum at a ‘Bitcoin ATM’. The ATM is a trial and Schiphol is the first European airport to offer this service.

“Schiphol is constantly looking for ways to innovate and provide optimum service to passengers,” says Tanja Dik, director of Consumer Products & Services at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. “With the Bitcoin ATM, we hope to provide a useful service to passengers by allowing them to easily exchange ‘local’ euros for the ‘global’ cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum. That can be beneficial if, for instance, it’s not possible to spend euros in their home country.”

This Bitcoin ATM has been installed at Arrival Hall 2 as well as in the corridor to Departure Halls 1 & 2. They are easily located and allows thousands of passengers departing from this airport to change their cash money for cryptocurrency.

According to their official announcement:

This trial is the result of cooperation between Schiphol and the Dutch company ByeleX Data Solutions BV, ‘The Byecoin Company’. “We are excited that Schiphol is willing to join us in exploring ways to introduce passengers to the new cryptoreality,” according to ByeleX director Herman Vissia.

Can the Dutch get any more cooler than this?

This move is highly welcome and infact it's revolutionary. It's incredible how the Dutch have warmed upto to the changes happening in the financial world.

On my previous two European trips, Schiphol was my main airport for flights in and out for EU region and I preferred to exit without carrying any Euros on me as changing it later for INR means taking a slight hit anyways so I might as well change it for cryptocurrency. It's just perfect!

I dream of the day when we can purchase Steem through an ATM like this one!

What do you think about such a move? Is it a good move and are you interested in using this facility if you were to fly to Amsterdam?

Wow this is amazing! But, how would you get the bitcoin? Just give a Coinbase account or something? Have them on some type of card? They would set you up with an account as you exchange the euros? That’s awesome though, next time I am in Amsterdam I know where my spare euros will go!

You could make a QR code out of your BTC address and scan it in this ATM or type it in perhaps? I'm not entirely sure but if I travel to AMS this year, I will test it out myself. :)

That would be awesome! It’s a great idea. We need more of this and the price of cryptos will be back up soon for sure. This is a step in the right direction, soon the coins will be flying again! 😀

Sweet!...:)...

I have heard of Bitcoin ATMs in Canada. @silenteyes, who now is in Toronto, had made a post about those ATMs with their photos in her post a couple of months back.

These kind of things will surely come to India in less then a decade from now I think. As of now I have created a PayPal account as per someone's suggestion to face the situation awaits us from July 6!

This is one of the reasons why I am proud to be from Holland man. These guys are really thinking this through!

Wow hope that this will continue and it will be successful. Hope asia will follow also.

They must have forgot the original Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash (bch).
