  1. Game developers can now integrate NANO into Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) games. Although in beta, developers can start using NANO microtransactions for games. In the future, users will be able to earn NANO rewards for playing games. Users will be able to select their character, start fighting against other creatures and receive NANO rewards every single time they kill an enemy. With the rewards, users can later purchase goods and services inside the game and everything is paid using the NANO cryptocurrencies.

  2. Vitalik Buterin, ethereum’s co-founder, said he thought if you build it, they will come, but now thinks maybe not without investing in the community. He said: “We’ve underestimated the importance of community. Two years ago I was a believer that if you built good tech they would come. We now see that without investing in community the good tech won’t come, or it won’t be that good.” What exactly he means by investing in community is not clear.

  3. Shares of Grayscale’s Digital Large Cap Fund (DLC) received the green light from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) this week. The investment vehicle allows institutional clients to gain access to the price of several cryptocurrency assets without taking on the risk and compliance obligations of trading them direct. The DLC currently consists of 80% BTC $8311.84 +0.07%, followed by 9.9% ETH $186.993 +0.29%. The other minority components are BCH, LTC and XRP.

According to a listing on Rightmove, a major British online real estate portal and property website, a vendor put an 18th-century church converted into a seven-bedroom character property up for sale and is willing to accept Bitcoin as payment. While the property unit is priced at 1.2 million British pounds ($1.5 million), the final price in Bitcoin is to be agreed and confirmed with the vendor and will depend on the market price of Bitcoin at the time of sale, the listing notes. At press time, the sale price is worth 182.34 Bitcoins.

  6. Major Bitcoin wallet software Electrum will feature an in-house developed implementation of scalability solution Lightning Network in its next release. Electrum also confirmed that the wallet will employ a new implementation developed in-house, written in Python. Recently, the chief strategy officer at Blockstream has said that the current block size capacity may not even be needed in the future if off-chain scaling solutions such as Lightning become widely used.

  7. Investors who trade crypto tend to take bigger risks in the stock market, suggesting they seek dopamine more than diversification, a study found. “We find that when engaging in cryptocurrency trading investors simultaneously increase their risk-seeking behavior in stock trading as they increase their trading intensity and use of leverage,” the paper says. Notably, traders in the age group of 35 to 44 years old increased their leverage the most, followed by 25- to 34-year-old traders.

  8. Monero (XMR) has to deal with the inflow of specialized ASIC machines taking over mining on its network. After several ASIC-disabling forks, which slightly tweaked the CryptoNight mining algorithm, Monero is planning to switch to an entirely different proof-of-work algorithm to remain resistant. Toward the end of October, Monero plans an upgrade that will make the network once again easy enough to mine with CPU. The change will do away with CryptoNight and introduce the RandomX algorithm.

  9. Binance’s native cryptocurrency will serve as the underlying asset to a new exchange traded product (ETP). Binance said Wednesday it has partnered with fintech firm Amun to develop the USD-denominated ETP. Listed on the Switzerland’s principal stock exchange SIX under the ticker ABNB, the financial product can be purchased through a bank or brokerage like a stock. Amun CEO Hany Rashwan told CoinDesk the ETP will initially be backed by $20 million worth of Binance coins (BNB).

  10. Digital asset financial services firm BitGo has announced that it will provide institutional-grade custody and wallets for Tron (TRX) starting on Nov. 8. According to the official announcement published on Oct. 14, BitGo has been working closely with Tron “to develop the first TRX institutional-grade wallet and custody offerings that provide on-chain, multi-sig security.” It is also noted that BitGo’s multisignature addresses require two or more separate users to use their keys in order to get access to the funds.

  11. The Oxford English Dictionary (OED), has officially added the word “Satoshi” to its database. The decision was made as part of a quarterly update this month. The OED defines Satoshi as: “The smallest monetary unit in the Bitcoin digital payment system, equal to one hundred millionth of a bitcoin.” The announcement follows the December 2014 update that saw “bitcoin” added to the respected resource. It defines bitcoin as “a digital currency in which transactions can be performed without the need for a central bank.”

  12. Binance.US, Binance's trading platform for its customers in the U.S., announced that it had added support for Dash (DASH). Binance.US says that it has already started taking deposits for DASH. It should be noted that in the case of ACH USD deposits, "you will be able to buy and sell digital assets from your USD wallet immediately, but deposited funds are placed under an initial hold of 10 days before you can take them out of Binance.US." The new trading pair—DASH/USD—is set ti go live at 21:00 EST on 15 October 2019.
