Some might even say huge news.
Long rumored, and finally confirmed today, Samsung’s newest line of phones, the Galaxy S10, will support secure storage for cryptocurrency private keys.
Samsung is a huge company, raking in $225 billion in sales in 2018.
Roughly a month ago it was leaked with photos of the S10 that showed a “Blockchain Keystore.”
Per Samsung’s press release:
"Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as a secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”
The details on how exactly Samsung’s private key solution will work are sparse at the moment.
What’s for certain is that Samsung reaches a wide audience.
Samsung ships over 280 million smart phone units annually.
And it’s another step toward wide spread crypto adoption.
