Checking Out Lendingblock, The First Cross-chain Lending Platform for Crypto

in bitcoin •  7 years ago

Lendingblock (LND) is an open exchange for institutional cryptocurrency loans.

It’s another institutional crypto play, which I’ve been writing about recently. The last one was on the b0x Protocol where you can also find links to other institutional crypto plays I’ve written about.

Let’s check out Lendingblock.

According to Lendingblock, “We believe institutional cryptocurrency investing is inevitable. Going forward, cryptocurrencies will form part of a growing number of multi-asset investment portfolios.”

Lendingblock is introducing securities lending to the crypto world.

Borrowers would include hedge funds, investment managers, market makers, and proprietary traders. And lenders would include asset managers, hedge funds, family offices, and even individuals.

For borrowers it’s a way to get liquidity out of their assets. And for lenders it’s a simple and safe way to earn additional income on long term investments without sacrificing ownership.

Lendingblock is comprised of two discreet but complimentary parts.

First is a real-time exchange that links borrowers and lenders.

And second is a smart contract based operational system that implements the terms of the lending agreement created by the exchange, including initial transfer, interest payments, collateral management, default processing, and repayment.

It all runs on the LND token, an ERC 20 token. LND is used to pay interest by lenders and as the sole medium of payment for Lendingblock platform fees. There’s a total of 1 billion LND. For more details check out the tokenpaper.

Lendingblock is co-founded by Steve Swain and Linda Wang. Key investors include AlphaBlock investors and Global Blockchain Innovative Capital.

On the roadmap Lendingblock is looking to get regulatory approval by July 2018 and launch in August 2018.

It’s a big opportunity, over $2 trillion in debt and equity securities were lent against in 2017 alone.

What do you think of Lendingblock?

I was looking extensively at then loan type crypto and lending block came up as one to watch.

Though after meeting the team at Celsius I decided to invest in them instead. Take a look into then and see what I mean.

To me the lending concept in crypto is going to perform very well... so the related coins as well...

Me too, they just need to gain some momentum.

I'm not much into crypto!
I'm just working on steemit.

people are saying and June will be best for Crypto,
what your opinion about this?

Steemit is crypto ;-p
We had a good April, Consensys Conference coming up in May... yea I think Q2 will be good for crypto.

oh yeah :p I mean i'm not much in trading, just holding some sbd's which i have earned from steeit.

Nice!

hahaha :p who is nice? you or me? :p i think you <3

what is the difference between cross chain and blockchain?

LND runs on the Ethereum blockchain.
Cross chain for Lendingblocks means being able to hold BTC and lend ETH or vice versa. I think BTC, ETH, LTC, and XRP are the first four coins they'll support.

oh man thanks for the information.

Another Interesting Project to watch! (AIP)

Actually I was much more curious about this crypto. I learned a lot about reading your post which I needed. Thank you so much for posting a good newsletter bro.

These kinds of lending platforms are essential for large volume holders to be able to use their crypto without crashing markets.

One of the problems that I've been saying for 6 or 7 years now is that cryptos have a huge seignorage problem. Especially in diminishing return type blockchains like BTC, the early adopters of a successful blockchain end up with a huge percentage of the value of the entire chain. If they sell, they can take down the entire market.

But with asset lending, those whales can use their crypto value without having to sell on the open market. So these lending platforms are performing a huge service for the rest of us.

wow, this is really interesting... would definitely want to follow it
