وجذبت بيتكوين العديد من الاستثمارات بسبب تداولها خارج سيطرة الحكومات، مما يصعب تتبعها، وهي الميزة التي تمثل هاجسا أمنيا بسبب سهولة استخدامها من قبل شبكات غسيل الأموال وتجار المخدرات والقراصنة والإرهابيين.

وباتت الصين خلال السنوات الأخيرة أرضا خصبة لتجارة العملات الافتراضية، كما أن البورصات المحلية سمحت في وقت سابق للمستخدمين بإجراء الصفقات مجانا، من أجل جذب المستثمرين والمضاربين.

الأجهزة صينية

وبحسب التقرير فإن الصين تستضيف ما يقرب من 78 بالمئة من قوة الحوسبة للعملة الرقمية، من خلال شبكة خوادم عملاقة. كما أن معظم الأجهزة المتخصصة في فك تشفير العملة مصنوعة في الصين.

وقال الباحث الرئيسي في التقرير، فلاديسلاف ماكاروف، إن "ذلك يوضح ما يمكن أن تفعله الصين بالعملة، فالحكومة تستطيع تخريبها".

ويخضع تداول بيتكوين لتوافق المستخدمين أنفسهم، وهو ما يحميها من هجمات القراصنة، لكن إذا امتلك أحد طرفي التداول أكثر من نصف قوة معالجة العملة إلكترونيا، فإن بإمكانه استغلالها بطريقة يمكن أن تجعلها عديمة الفائدة.

ويمكن أن تسبب هجمة رقابية على البيتكوين إلى توقف التداول مرة أو مرتين أو اختفائها من المحافظ المالية، وبحسب التقرير، يمكن للصين القيام بهذا الأمر إذا أجبرت عددا كافيا من المستخدمين على فك تشفير العملة.

وأعلنت بكين في وقت سابق عن شكوكها في العملة الرقمية، وحظرت بالفعل الطرح الأولي للعملات، وهو شكل من أشكال التمويل الجماعي من قبل الشركات، التي تصدر عملات مشفرة.

ويمكن بحسب الخبير في شركة غلاديوس، آدم أندرسون، مواجهة الأضرار الناجمة عن مثل هذا الهجوم باستنساخ العملة عن طريق إيجاد نسخة أقل عرضة للنفوذ الصيني، لكنه أقر بأنه سيكون من الصعب استعادة الثقة في بيتكوين أو العملات الرقمية.
