I think that if USA government is going to make that kind of law then they are accepting officialy the cryptocurrency as a world wide accepted currency. Therefore they are giving more weight to the fact that they cant control it. Remember that there are more than 1 way to backup your founds (printed qwerty barcode, hardware wallets, mobile wallet, ...).
So i dont think they aren't going to strip you looking for cryptocurrency.
