I never liked the name Bitcoin. I think it is a very dull name and also a misnomer.
Bit and coin. Bit sounds nerdy… The consumer does not care a bit if a thing is a bit, byte, bait or bite.
Coin is a misnomer as digital currencies are something intangible.
It was really interesting to read the article by Stan about Bitcoin's Magnificent Seven and the Light Speed Bitcoin.
As an effect, I even bought my first Bitshares which I bought some HEROs with.
Perhaps when the LSBTC get hardforked we could call it Lightning:
Sounds cool to me: It is fast, interconnected, intangible, electric and dangerously profitable!
The logo could be something like this:

Lightning sounds like a pretty cool rebrand.
It is definitely acting like lightning with the explosive flash of growth. Now the thunder is coming as the price starts to shake and fluctuate.

Although, I think Bitcoin is a good name for the first crypto currency. Somewhat explaining the link and transition from physical coins to the digital equivalent. May be a little bit easier for the less techy to grasp the concept.
