Tangem Launches Bitcoin Banknotes in Singapore
That's the headline from prnewswire.com.
I'm not clear on all the details, but it seems that the banknote will have an embedded special chip, which will act something like a hardware wallet, but will store a specific amount of Bitcoin. Initially, the banknotes will be in the denomination of 0.01 BTC and 0.05 BTC.
This might be considered to be an advanced version of a Paper Wallet, for which the amount is "locked in," can't be changed and guaranteed.
Just thinking... Is this the modern version of the old US Gold Notes and Silver Certificates?
