Hey everyone,
A few years ago I started trading cryptocurrencies for fun, it was a pastime and addictive, and as the price of most coins where relatively low i was carefree.
It all began with Cryptsy.com, it was the first exchange site I used that had a wide array of cryptocurrencies to exchange, so after depositing plenty of bitcoin I starting buying various different altcoins.
I seem to recall something like 200k doge, 10k ripple, 5k NXT etc, this was the same with most currencies as I saw that most would eventually gain in price.
Everything was going great until one day Cryptsy decided to go bust and close down.
At that moment I lost all of my cryptocurrencies, and as they were all stored on Cryptsy.com I was unable to access them.
A while later a court settlement was opened, as was stated that anyone affected my Cryptsy should contact them and make a claim.
I proceeded to file a claim and have all the details I could, however several weeks later I received an email stating that due to the lack of information regarding the amounts of cryptocurrencies deposited my claim had been denied.
I was told that unless I could show proof of deposits and transactions that my claim was invalid.
I continued to ask if there was any way to access my Cryptsy.com account balances and/or information but I was told that they have no access to any records.
This left me in a terrible dilemma: I needed to access my acount to screenshot my balances in order to prove my balances, but there is no way to access any record.
In short, unless I had photo proof of all my transactions it was impossible to prove how much I lost.
Being the naive fool that I was I never ever thought that the exchange that kept all my coins would steal them all, it's like if my bank stole all my money and clef down, completely unexpected.
I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem and managed to find a solution?
A WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL: Screenshot every deposit and transaction on every exchange site that you use, you would never think they could go bust and steal your coins but they can.
Many thanks all for reading this!
