Do bitcoin and other cryptocurrencys offer a real alternative to traditional investment?

cryptocurrencys have wildly different regulations from state to state and country to country assuming that is is legal in your are it is extremely easy to begin investing, you don't need a broker or even much money to buy some bitcoin. It being so easy to access is a major benefit. Anyone can trade cryptocurrencies and for that reason they will be part of the future.
