After a year full of events and already 2 hard forks that split the chain (creating Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold), Bitcoin has only become stronger with every month. In the past 24h Bitcoin has pushed the limit through the $6,300 mark for the first time and setting a new record high.
Although many have not anticipated this breakthrough after just 10 days since BTC breached the $6,000 handle, investors are still shrugging the negative news in the bitcoin world supporting the price increase.
One of the most influencing and followed news on the market has been JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon which called bitcoin a "fraud", while at the same time we have billionaire Peter Thiel who said people are "underestimating" the cryptocurrency, saying it has "great potential."
Obviously the Bank industry is seeing the huge threat that bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are becoming and more negative news will try to decrease the potential that it actually has. We should not forget a very important marketing strategy, which has been successful along time, “there is no such thing as bad publicity”, all the negative news, giving cryptocurrencies higher exposure, while the market is growing to show investment potential.
On the other side of JPMorgan we have Goldman Sachs which recently said that it is considering to launch a new trading operation which will be focused on BTC and other cryptocurrencies.
MAS, which is the Monetary Authority from Singapore is looking to launch its own digital currency in the next year.
In regards to the ban that China made 7 weeks ago, we might see soon a reverse of that ban, however this is only insider speculation.
Coming back to the question in the title “Is it too late to invest in Bitcoin ?”, not to forget this was the most circulated news at the end of 2016 when we saw bitcoin reaching again after 3 years the $1,000 mark, and after just 1 more year we see bitcoin having a 500 percent increase for less than 12 months.
