Hi Everyone,
With the current alt-coin to Fiat market doing the hokey pokey and jumping all about, I'm sure there will be pain and bodies and in some cases vultures picking off the carcasses, truly this is the end....or Not!
I'm not real wise to the whole market sensitive things, but I did a google search today just for something to do as I'm trying to decide if I want to actually invest cash. So I search "bitcoin news" and every article, all spelt doom. I looked at the time each was released and it was at approx the same time...Gee all this happened at once??
- Something about some 80 year old white haired dude, that owns a 3rd of the planet in fiat, saying bitcoin is so not worth his time - it's so worthless he just had a press conference to let the world know he isn't going to talk about it, as in his view it's tiny, dead and will be gone soon.
- Some photo's of some cops raiding some place for cocaine as the villains had been trading in in dirty, dirty bitcoin.
- Some stuff about bitcoin getting banned in some Asian country and;
- Some kid selling ice creams decided to stop selling as bitcoin is too slow.
Ok, so maybe I haven't recalled the stories exactly right, but how did all this drama happen all at approx the same time, like different reporting websites, all over the planet and all at once?
So i go look at the prices and sure enough across the board, the whole market is spooked? crashing and doomed WT? do people really believe this crap and behave this way...
Perhaps I'll just focus on the first point as all of this could be just my over dramatic mind up to its old tricks again... So one of these rich dudes that own everything on the planet and has I can't remember a 3rd of all the dollars ever printed, is coming forward for media interviews and saying stuff like "Bitcoin doesn't bother me cause it will be dead soon". not sure he said exactly that, but who cares what this dude says really..
I don't know about the rest of you, but if I was so rich and not worried about something, why the heck am I telling the world I'm not worried about it! wouldn't I just be not worried about it?
Like what possible force is so great, that someone so mighty and powerful would come forward and make a statement along the lines of, sorry if I said Bitcoin was horrible, instead I'll change my statement and say..Bitcoin is just so worthless, the whole thing is so low on my radar, that I'm just not worried about it.
...is it like moving from denial to acceptance stage with these rich people, like when a massive disruptive has arrived and now we are in the acceptance stage?
For some reason something seems unusual with these kinds of statements (like they are designed to dis-empower crypto technologies as outright bagging them didn't work! so now we acknowledge them and let people know we will squash them like bugs)...but gee people seem to listen, just look at the way the market reacts..
Or am I losing it? I'm interested if anyone else has a view or can educate me a bit more as I'm still very new to learning about this stuff (personally I just like making steem and making people happy and sharing wealth)...but maybe these people don't want us all to be prosperous

The media thrives on these sort of stories.. unfortunately I too passed up on Bitcoin 4 years ago due to media and internet research (which told me not to buy) and my mate had the foresight to give it a shot..

yes sometimes I feel the same @lordnigel . the logic in me always told me don't invest your hard earned cash into crypto. ok I"lost out" but I do care because I have secured myself into physical.
though steemit has become my free entry point into the crypto space. I earn on here, that only cost me my time and if I lose... well it isnt really the end of the world.

It's just a mind game. Why would there be so many articles against Crypto if it wasn't a genuine threat to the financial status quo. Most journalists and publications like that are funded by fortune 500 companies.
The big issue looming isn't crypto, it's the imminent collapse of the US bond market and the fact that China and Russia don't want to trade with the Dollar any more. Countries can and do go bankrupt. Look at Maduro and his Cronies. At which time being able to conduct your monetary affairs directly with other people around the world (Crypto) becomes a lot more valuable than having your money tied into a particular Country's issued Banknotes.
All Alt Coin markets are cyclical. There's always a dip or two every year and it always comes back stronger. The only two things that can end that are if the World's electricity is shut off and if there are suddenly a lot less people in the world (i.e. if most of us die suddenly) outside of that human demand for Alt Coins, Privacy Coins and Crypto in general is just getting started.

Hey Man, i think your being a bit harsh on old Buffet. I mean he is one of the most successful business owners/fund managers/investor in the world. If you believe cryptos will survive then its an opinion, as is warrens.
Only time will tell who is right or wrong. I also think he is reacting in a period of financial uncertainty. In other words it would be inappropriate for him not to publicly make a statement re-assuring his thousands of clients that his fiat based investing model is the correct way to go.

True point - my response is a bit emotional/built up by my experience reading this stuff (negative articles everywhere). Perhaps if i was heavily invested into his business I might be more biased as well.
I guess my main issue is around the way people react to the news or act to protect $ based system which clearly has problems.
Unfortunately by virtue crypto is capable of "breaking" the current system to which he has nearly total control means his opinion is worth near zero to me...but your right not to others.

Dude, technology changes, human nature doesn't.
Go back to the famous "stock market crash" of last century, people committed suicide by the dozens, hundreds in fact!
Then the regulations became a lot stricter and the conflict of interest issues along with the collusion issues were sorted out and the market became the strongest in the world.
History has a way of repeating itself, for one simple reason "people will be people".
Don't for one second fall victim to the idea that "this is all honky dorey".
I may be new to this game, but it is so obvious that we are watching a rerun of the same BS that people did when they abused and raped the stock markets prior to to the Great Depression.
The only difference now is that technology has gone so far ahead of its time that the Crypto market won't result in a "Great Depression" it will in a matter of minutes get back up on its feet as now it takes milliseconds to do what back then took days, weeks or even months to achieve.

I think crypto has great potential to help with some real world problems (greed being a huge issue)...but given the chance people with $ will probably destroy it - people kill what they fear or don't understand.
