Everyone forgets that for their investment to be a success they must get back their principal and on top of that a little extra. It is just like buying investment insurances where you put in a little bit each month and hope for a payout it matures.
Buy and hold for cryptos looks the way to go just like stocks in the early days. People can invest in other ventures but just don't go all when "diversifying".

Genesis Mining has been paying me out everyday and it's generally about 1% of my initial investment daily so I think it's a decent investment but I'm not sure about Bitconnect I have been looking into it and it does seem like something's fishy there. I agree with you when it comes to Bitconnect though, holding your BTC would net you better returns in the long run

I don't know anything about Bitconnect, but I tried Genesis Mining for about a year. While it doesn't seem to be a scam - they do actually mine and pay out - I never made enough on the payouts to cover the initial investment. You're better off just buying the crypto instead of cloud mining it.

@kendewitt I have heard this a lot that the contracts are not profitable even though people are receiving daily payments. I also just tell people that the best strategy in most cases may be to just buy and hold.

Totally agree! The fact that you HAVE to convert your BTC to their coin is creating more demand for their coin, driving the price up and making them more money if they are sitting on some.
