Blockchain identity startup Metadium is partnering with game engine company Unity Technologies. The software development kit (SDK) of the startup is releasing in Unity's asset store. Metadium announced to self-proclaimed partnership on Friday.
Software companies can become part of the Unity Asset Store partner program when they produce certified software. Both parties are involved in promoting the assets and drive wider adoption of Metadium Meta ID among game developers.
Metadium is an blockchain-powered identity software that's running on the Ethereum blockchain. It's not yet clear how and why game developers should be using identity software into their games.
Being part of the Unity Asset Store is very valuable for software developers. Unity Asset Store is being used by 6.5 million game developers worldwide, ranging from indie developers to giants like Electronic Arts. Over 1.3 million devs use the service every month. Games produced with SDKs from Unity Asset Store have exceeded 28 billion downloads, installed in over 3 billion devices worldwide.
This isn't the first time Unity's game engine is being associated with crypto or blockchain projects. Enjin Coin (ENJ) launched its SDK last month, and it allows developers to incorporate an economical model across different games, or give gamers true ownership over digital assets. Unity itself is also looking into cryptocurrencies, which is being underlined by a patent the company filed.
Metadium isn't the only company focusing on blockchain-powered identification software. Civic (CVC) is another example. They just build a vending machine that confirms crypto transactions and confirms the identity of the buyer. Deloitte is also working on a similar project.
