Rakuten launches mobile trading app

Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten has launched a mobile application for iOS devices which allows users to do spot trading on the go. Rakuten Wallet, one of the company's own subsidiaries, is running the show, and promised to separate their customer assets from their own funds. The app is only available on Android.

Rakuten Wallet currently only supports wallet options for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash. All crypto owned by customers is placed in cold storage, and users require two-factor authentication to withdraw any funds from their wallets. An iOS version of the app is planned to be launched in September.

There are no fees for opening or managing an account, purchasing or selling crypto assets, or depositing money. However, there is a 300 Yen fee for withdrawing crypto assets. This amount equals 0.001 BTC, 0.01 ETH or 0.01 BCH.
