Neighbor: "What are bitcoins?"
Me: "First, how would you explain stocks to me?"
Neighbor: "Piece of paper stating that I have ownership in a company."
Me: "Can you show me your paper stocks?"
Neighbor: "No, it all happens on the computer now."
Me: "So what do you really own?"
With that baseline we had a great discussion about bitcoin.
I'm going to start using this analogy when describing Bitcoin to people.
