Well now you can buy and sell Ethereum Classic thru CoinBase since about the 15th of this month. ETC is only worth about $13 bucks at the time of this writing. So what is this crypto?
What Is Ethereum Classic?
ETC is the original blockchain for ether, it was exploited in 2016 for around $50 million USD. The ethereum community decided to hard fork the blockchain creating ETH (ethereum).
The decision to hard fork was not completely accepted by the community. Those that did not agree with the hard fork decided to keep the original blockchain going...So now you have Ethereum Classic and Ethereum.
ETC VS ETH
Ethereum was created to return the stolen ether(DAO) to their rightful owners. It is backed by all of the founding members of the original ethereum blockchain.
Ethereum is also finding growing support from big companies like Microsoft, JP Morgan, ING and more. Ethereum is now more secure compared to it's predecessor ETC. ETH is currently valued around $285 USD. The ETH blockchain is being adapted by companies for many different data applications.

Ethereum Classic is not supported by the founding members of the ether blockchain. It still has many vulnerabilities in it's blockchain according to experts. ETC is valued at around $13 USD and is starting to get support from big names like CoinBase, but ETC is known to have lot's of scammers involved with their platform.
Those that support ETC say that the hard fork goes against everything that the ether blockchain was built on.
At the end of the day, the founding members of the ether blockchain are supporting the hard fork which is ETH(Ethereum) and say that it was necessary for the new blockchain to be created so that:
- The stolen ether(DAO) could be returned to their owners.
- The loop hole that was exploited could be fixed.
