Is Bitcoin Better Money? John Stossel interview with Naomi Brockwell

in bitcoin •  5 years ago

Recently I was featured in a Stossel segment about Bitcoin, Libra, and the battle between crypto and governments.

In the video, Peter Schiff and I give our opposing view points of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Important things to remember:

Bitcoin can't be debased. There will only ever be 21 million bitcoins.

Unconfiscatable money is one of the most important features we can have in our money.

We shouldn't be supporting or participating in the corrupt and Orwellian financial system -- we should use money that gives us more privacy and control, like cash and cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin isn't money at all, but currency. The distinction is everything in this discussion.

Right.
In the same way, gold is not money, it's a rock.
A dollar is not money, it's paper – or maybe just digital info on a computer.

If we market participants give something value, it can be used as money.

I prefer a privacy coin like Monero myself.
