If you’ve ever had to deliver a package, you might have been shocked by the astounding charges courier companies demand. Every time I go to a UPS desk, my response to the price is, “WHAT?!”

Courier services are extremely expensive because extremely large and centralized companies are the only ones offering the service. Behind the huge companies, at the end of the day, it’s just the UPS drivers making the deliveries, right? So rest of the whole infrastructure is just there to make sure the drivers get business. But now DAV is offering a way for the entire transportation industry to be connected on the DAV Network. Any person or autonomous vehicle can connect to the DAV Network and offer transportation services and any person or company can connect to DAV and use those services.

Right now we have to work with courier companies that huge sales and marketing departments and business development teams. This makes the service so expensive. But if we can decentralize this industry, all courier needs would be placed on the DAV Network and anyone could fulfill those needs. This cuts out the need for companies and lets people work directly with drivers. This way courier services could be a lot cheaper.

Courier Services with DAV

Individuals can just connect to the DAV Network and offer the courier service. Meanwhile, people who need a courier service can just ask for the service on the DAV Network. Drivers will get business directly from people who need a courier service.

Another major factor here is that anyone could just join the courier market so if the cost of courier services remains really high, more people would join the DAV Network to work as courier service providers. People will keep joining till other opportunities for people with the same skillset would be worth more. DAV will open up the courier service to anyone and at the same time would drive down the cost of courier services by removing the middle man.

The limitation of this service would likely be international courier services. Unless we start tokenizing airplanes (maybe very soon), companies would be the ones running that service. DAV’s courier service would be limited to likely within a certain city or state. This still fulfills a large part of the courier market and makes that part much cheaper.
