A lot is going on right now...
With the markets on a bullish, then bearish, then bullish trend again we see a bit of sideways action that many speculate may result in an Alt-Coin rally.
Regardless, we've got some news from around the ecosystem to dive into today.
Laszlo Hanyecz Buys BTC Pizzas Again With Lightning Network
The Lightning Network is supposed to be one of the ultimate defibrillators for Bitcoin's network, allowing for near-instant transactions.
Many surmise that this can help deliver a quick, global solution to buying a cup o' joe with Bitcoin.
So, a landmark in the history of Bitcoin decided to try it out.
If you've ever heard the story about the man who bought two pizzas, with 10,000 Bitcoin, then you know who Laszlo Hanyecz is.
And he's at it again.
This time for the first use of the Lightning Network, on the Bitcoin network, but once again buying pizzas.
Laszlo spent .649000 satoshis, or 0.00649 bitcoins, which equals around $62 for both pizzas.
With the market largely sideways, but a breakout in 2018 imminent, Laszlo is probably hoping that this turns into a similar "mistake" as the last time.
Bitlicense Being Reviewed For Change?
The Bitlicense is the friendly license created for Bitcoin-based companies and anything dealing with cryptocurrency in New York.
That's actually why many companies won't operate in New York like Shapeshift and others.
Which is why the New York lawmakers are looking at the Bitlicense once again to see if they can change it for the cryptocurrency industry.
If an open dialogue is orchestrated and it is amended to help cryptocurrency companies and advocates instead of harming them with b.s. Laws and hoops to jump through then this may help the industry overall.
Elon Musk Holds No Cryptocurrency...
What?
I know, the man who wants to go to Mars and beyond isn't on board with the advancement of money.
Well, he's not on board but most likely isn't getting tied up in this new world.
Recently on twitter, he said that he doesn't hold any Bitcoin.
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Not sure. I let @jack know, but it’s still going. I literally own zero cryptocurrency, apart from .25 BTC that a friend sent me many years ago.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 22, 2018
For those in on Crypto Twitter, he is referring to the scams that have been taking place on everyone's tweets, especially the ones asking for BTC in exchange for double the amount...
Use common sense; no one gives you $2 for $1 even if you know them or not.
But, Elon on the other hand just doesn't hold Bitcoin. We do remember him stating that he didn't know where his wallet was or his private keys a while back.
He is tied up with getting to space, so we will see if Tesla or SpaceX accepts cryptocurrency shortly.
Coinbase Launches Segwit
Lastly, we have Coinbase launching segwit.
This is something that has been in the works for some time, as Segwit adoption can dramatically help lower their fees and the time it takes to send a transaction.
On the 23rd of February, they announced via Twitter its launch.
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>1/2 Announcing SegWit support on Coinbasehttps://t.co/95FXW0Ultf
— Coinbase (@coinbase) February 23, 2018
This could be a big move for the company, especially as the network grows and we aim for another bull run in the next few months.
