I think that the article is nonsensical. The libertad is already "monetized" and is worth the value of its weight in silver, not the numeration on the coin. Mexico would actually be securing the value of its currency by BACKING the peso with physical. Think about it. If silver is worth nothing now but a country wants to back their currency using silver, that implies a real value of the silver itself.
