EMERGENCE OF NEED FOR BITNATION
According to its founder Susanne Tarkowski Tempelhof, the need for a platform such as Bitnation surfaced due to the incapability of nations in facing the global challenges on their own. Instead of making the world a borderless place where greater autonomy is given to the individuals and their rights are given a preference, the nations in the world is seeing a surge in bureaucracy, protectionism and intrusion in the personal space of citizens. In such a scenario, it occurred to the founders of Bitnation that they need a platform that would save the world and its citizens from the autocratic rule of the government and change the things for the better before we all drift towards the state of tyranny.

WHAT IS BITNATION AND WHAT IS THEIR STRATEGY?
Bitnation was launched in July’2014, it consists of two words bit and nation and use the same technology as that used by the Bitcoin. Bitnation is nothing but a virtual nation whose citizens are distributed over the network with the help of block chain technology. As of now, Pangea is Bitnation’s decentralized jurisdiction platform that is available as an app as well and here; you can build your own voluntary nations, agree on contracts and even settle disputes with the other members aka citizens of Bitnation.
Every time that you resolve a dispute on Pangea or complete a certain contract, you are rewarded with non-tradable reputation/goodwill tokens through Lucy, their artificial intelligence bot. When accumulated over a certain time period, these non-tradable tokens help you in earning tradable PAT (Pangea Arbitration Token) tokens. This whole system of tokens may sound a bit over-whelming and confusing to the people who are just getting started, but it in fact is quite a brilliant approach in making sure that people do not buy goodwill or gain it through popularity but, work hard for it.
THEIR VISION
Bitnation aspires to create and grow a platform where individuals can choose the nations that they want to be the citizens of and these nations in turn offer them different services, a unique constitution, make their own laws and policies and compete with each other in order to gain more citizens in a free and liberal market setting which operates without any control or third party interference.
ABOUT THEIR TEAM AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Right now Bitnation’s core team consists of Susanne Tarkowski Tempelhof as the project’s CEO, James Fenelell Tempelhoff as its Chief Operations Officer, Dr. John Matthews as its CFO, Sonja Prstc as its Chief Legal Officer, Kenneth Lillieholm as its Diplomatic Engagement officer, Rachelle Traboulsi as its Executive Assistant and Abhimanyu Dayal as its App Fund Manager. Apart from which, their community director is Erik Vollstadt, media director is Joffy Mills, social media director is Alma Sommer and community engagement director is Jacob Cox.
In 2017, Bitnation had won the Netexplo Award given by UNESCO and has been featured in many magazines like Bloomberg, VICE, BBC, WIRED, CNN, Russia today, The Economist, TechCrunch etc.
