How-To: Use BitShares via the Interplanetary File System (IPFS)

in bitshares •  9 years ago  (edited)

IPFS is a decentralized, distributed web, and it's here to stay.

Preparation

  1. Download IPFS - Click Here
  2. Set it Up - Click Here

Windows

I'll go through the process

  • Open IPFS Folder
  • Hold Shift + Right Click
  • Click Open CMD Prompt (or Command Prompt)

Now run
ipfs.exe init

You'll always have to start IPFS via this command:
ipfs.exe daemon

Bonus: Here's a much better command line tool for Windows - ConEMU

Once that's setup, visit http://localhost:5001/webui to see if it's working!

Visit Graphene :)

Let me know if it worked & I will keep Graphene Updated

This is great stuff .. would you be interested in help out the guy at decentral.exchange to host and continuously offer a bts wallet via IPFS?

He has taken down his page decwntral.exchange due to some ipfs stuff it seems ..

well, I'm keeping my version up to date... https://gateway.ipfs.io/ipns/QmZ8mWhPY3CmmyFs9P3kPxQhqYFVKV5smbwkGBL6cVfyCQ/index.html here is a clearnet link in case. but that's not what I want to promote though

Does you hash not change after updates?

yes, but not the IPNS hash. that's the "dns" and linked to the graphene folder. so you will always reach the current version

Hi,

I was used webwallet for BitShares and my system was crashed. I don't have any backups, but I know my login info. So can any one help me to login into my existing BitShares Openledger account and get back my balance (about 4000 BTS). I must appreciate it very much.

do you have your brain key? if not, you're shit out of luck

How can I use BitShares now? Can I send commands to my wallet now?

?
