During a conversation between Juhi Chawla, an actress and Sadhguru, philanthropist and yogui, Juhi asks for advice to live a more consciously and blissful life. According to Sadhguru the key is the awareness that life is just a brief happening:
Every day between 106,000 and 107,000 people die.
That means that tomorrow more than 106,000 people around the world will not wake up. If you and I wake up tomorrow, isn't that enough to feel the bliss?
More than 106,000 people didn't wake up today, but you did wake up and so did I. That is a wonderful thing!
Thinking about it like this, when you wake up you just want to look at the ceiling smiling, we are here, still awake.
If 106,000 people die every day, today millions of people woke up having lost someone who was very dear to them.
Check if the 5 or 6 people who are most important in your life woke up today. Did everyone wake up? Excellent! today is a fantastic day.
You woke up, the people you love woke up. Isn't that fantastic? Reading it like that, of course it is. And while writing it, yes, I feel like I am filling myself with happiness but ... there is something else, a great but: inside I still don't believe it. Are you believing it?
It happens that we live with the idea that we are immortal. We are not really thinking that we are, if someone asks us if we are immortal we will probably look at him or her strangely and answer: "Yes of course" but Sadhguru invites us to go further, deeper, to recognize that we are not aware of our mortality yet.
How many times of the day are we really aware of our mortality? If we were aware of it ... would we have time to procrastinate? to creep? to fight someone? Would we have time to do some trash with our life? If we were aware of our mortality we would not do anything that was not absolutely necessary for us and the people we love and for anyone who is by our side. Looking at life in this way, death no longer seems negative, and we can see it for what it is: the only thing that adds value to our life.
As Sadhguru said to Juri; "If you were to be here forever you would be unbearable. If you become aware of this one thing, if your consciousness is always attentive to your mortality, it is not that we are thinking every day that we are going to die, we all want to live as much as we can. You just have to know that someday you will die. If you are aware of this you will naturally become spiritual [...] I assure you that if you do this for two days you will do something wonderful with your life "
Life is a miracle, every second every moment, each inhalation and exhalation is a blessing. We are in bliss, only sometimes we forget.
Do you accept Sadhguru's challenge? Would you try to live two full days bringing your attention to your mortality to reconnect with bliss?
