NYC SNOW STORM MARCH 2017 -- WTF…

in blizzard •  8 years ago

The Big Snow Storm

It started snowing in the early, early morning hours here in NYC.., and has switched between big giant snowflakes to stinging hail-like rain… It is expected to continue until around 6pm EST. As of right now, the snow geeks missed the total amount of snow fall by 10 inches -- here's only about 4-5 inches, at most, here in Manhattan…, and you can see the blacktop of all the streets.

As for this being a record setting snow storm -- NOT!

snow estimates

Bigger Snow Storms In March

March 12, 1988 -- 21 inches
March 8, 1941 -- 18 inches
March 13, 1993 -- 11 inches
March 5, 1981 -- 8 inches

And today March 14, 2017 -- as of this moment -- 4 inches, with maybe another 1 or 2 inches on the way. Once again, the weather have failed us… The city is practically shut-down over a lousy 4 inches of snow!

If you happen to be in NYC or any place where this "blizzard" is taking place.., go out and enjoy some good times in the snow -- or just stay huddled up inside, with what else -- a good hot cup of coffee. Be safe. Be warm. ENJOY!

P.S.,
How bad can it be if all the shows on B'way will be in full swing -- The Show Must Go On!

Wow... 15 minutes in and flagged, already -- that was quick!

Hahah, maybe smooth wanted 1-2 feet and is feeling ripped off.

Thanks for the heads up, upvoted to add my 3cents worth!

:D

CHEERS!

Not as exciting now that the blizzard warning was removed, but at least I don't have to go to work :) Enjoy!

Gotta love those snow days... :))

Good pictures with lovely info.

Thank you... Cheers!

I love NYC and I love snow, but I never saw NYC and snow at the same time other then on photographs. Need to add this to my lost of things I need to experience.

You have to catch it as soon as it is falling.., it gets pretty dirty and messy -- quick! But if you do make the trek one day.., and it happens to snow, head to Central Park!!!

Thanks for the advise; I'll do that for sure!

Be happy it is missing you. Western NY is getting hit pretty hard. We have about a foot of snow right now, probably another foot by tonight/tomorrow morning. I may do a post requesting moral support from steemit lol.

Sorry to hear that... Hang in there!

Will do, 2 feet really isn't that bad anyways for WNY it is actually pretty normal winter weather lol.

Man, I don't know how you do it...

years of practice...lol

It seems to be part of human nature to panic before there's reason to... I see it around here, too... "OMG, I saw seven snowflakes! We must run to the market and stock up for six months of winter!" Cool photos though...rare to see NYC without its throngs of people.

Yeah, they do a pretty good job at scaring the crap out of everyone, so the streets are deserted...
