One might think that he missed out this new cryptocurrency when price is rising or any other successful coin. And so people start trying to hop from one cryptocurrency to the next cryptocurrency. I would argue that they are actually not competition to each other because the task which Blockchains are aiming at is gigantic because they cover so many areas.

Open Blockchain cryptocurrencies are heading to take over many different realms. This can only be achieved in a decentralized manner. Therefore there is a need for many cryptocurrencies which target specific industries.

Blockchain based industry targets

1. Bitcoin = most secure blockchain which yields for high value transactions (replacing banks)
2. Ethereum = smart contracts which enables machine to machine transactions (new territory)
3. Steem = high value user generated content (replace reddit)
4. Monero = confidential transactions (replacing the worlds tax havens)

There are a lot of investors who are looking for short term gains and are mainly interested making money by moving markets. This means that cryptocurrencies are being pushed until they drop like a falling stone. Nevertheless we are heading in a new era where Blockchains will be used in many different industries. So long term, we can only win.
