The Bittrex announcement comes at a time when the U.S. government is launching perhaps its toughest crackdown to date on the cryptocurrency industry.
Last year, Bittrex had to pay $29 million for "apparent violations" of sanctions against Iran, Cuba, and Syria.
Bittrex added that it will continue to operate the Bittrex Global platform, which serves customers outside the United States.
