Blockchain the Beautiful

Im from Malibu, California. A place where celebrities buy a beach house and the rich go to retire. It's also a place where some kids like me grow up. Middle class. I actually grew up in a mobile home park, though it's a nice mobile home park, and close to the beach. Most of the mansions on the beach you see in Malibu are empty - side/true story - my dad was homeless for a couple years and squatted in a 30 million dollar Malibu mansion for a year before the owners finally showed up on July 4th!) Anyway, there's a group of my friends out here in Malibu that are die-heart supporters of blockchain. Half of them are surfers like me with various jobs. One's a musician. Five of us work in real estate.

I'm not sure if my little group of crypto lovers is unique, or if there are mini crypto eco-systems sprouting up in random places all over the world, but one thing is certain, we've developed a kinship around crypto that I haven't felt in a long time.

We believe blockchain will solve the worlds problems: a musician in our group, Johnny Zambetti, will get the money he deserves for his songs, uber drivers and clients will no longer be paying a commission to a central company, but driving for themselves, people will wake up every morning as their own bosses, choosing on some device what jobs they'll want and which jobs don't fit they're criteria for the day.

Beaurocratic systems, trusted 3rd parties will lose their unneeded control as the blockchain will handle how transactions, intermediary systems should be carried out.

Ultimately, down the road, the blockchain to us means that we'll solve the biggest problems that have plagued us forever - my friend Dylan says block chain will solve world hunger -- "resources will be allocated correctly and we'll solve world hunger."

World hunger. I agree. The resources are already here, there's enough food for everyone, and I believe in a far reaching way that the blockchain is going to solve how to get that food to the hungry. Goin to far, call me crazy, but I bet you feel the same way, and can see a decentralized, better world on the horizon.

One of the top real estate agents in Malibu, a savvy cryptocurrency investor, and my good friend, Jeff, posted this inspiring message in our "Crypto Life" group chat the other day. I wanted to share it with the world:

"At this point, with the caliber of academics, professionals, thinkers, investors, inventors & innovators on the scene who are all believers in this technology, I figure the chances of the market going to nil is rapidly approaching zero with each passing day.

And the best part - not only do we have a stake in it, but we also have the chance to encourage it forward, and that's pretty powerful. We've been helplessly subjected to the older systems passed down to us by earlier generations, but those systems are aging and eventually will be rendered obsolete, at which point we become the stewards who must help usher in this profound and necessary new system.

As a legacy, this reimagining of systems of commerce, record keeping and communication, this evolutionary social step we see currently being brought to life, it too will eventually reveal its flaws in the presence of a changing world, and so our children will then be tasked with amending it or scrapping it or building it anew.

It's as if history is a blockchain and our contribution to it is immutable, just like the fly caught in amber. Feels important. Probably because it is. And it seems to bring the best out of us and encourage us to think critically about our world on a grand scale. You guys inspire me. This group is way better than AA and I still get to drink! What a time to be alive!

Let's keep charging and stay fired up, keep each other inspired and also be grateful that we see it and we see it early and let's go for the fuckin gusto. Won't be long until we're all vacationing together on crypto yields.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on how you think blockchain will change the world most for you. I personally think it will change the world for me in my career, or careers. I'm a very sporadic person. I think the blockchain will allow me to spread my career over various industries and specialties all at once. One week I might be in the mood to work on writing, the next, funding start-ups.

I think the blockchain will allow me to be more flexible with my work and not get fired from certain jobs when I get sick of them. I'll have the ability to do things I'm passionate and adding value to everyday instead of getting stuck in a mundane cycle and adding diminishing value to my work.
