Hi guys! Please fill in your user data to log in. Then search for data. Then find and edit them. You can print data. Take care of your data and store them securely. Data, data, data… They surround us everywhere and in the Internet particularly. Possessing the right data may ensure competitive advantage for companies and people. So, different data have different value. What value do yours have?
It’s not just a rhetorical question. You should know that data platforms earn an impressive amounts of money thanks to users’ data. However, paradoxically, the data source, the user him/herself, gets no reward. Today I will tell you about a project aimed at returning users’ control over their data and monetizing it. Datum is a decentralized database in which users can store their data in encrypted form, and also provide them to someone for a fee. In addition, the team aims at large state and corporate organizations, giving them the ability to manage large amounts of data with the protection provided by the blockchain technology.
What is Datum?
Datum is an ecosystem with decentralized data store, storage nodes and marketplace. The team has already released a demo mobile application for iOS and Android (attention: current version doesn’t provide the necessary security, see more information here: https://demo.datum.org/).
This app simplifies the work of users with a wallet and data. Users can be assured of security and protection, as all data are encrypted and depersonalized before being sent to the Datum network. Thus, it becomes impossible to determine the identity of the owner of this data. The risks of hacking or stealing data due to the distributed nature of data storage are eliminated. The developers promise that, no matter how complicated it may sound, the interfaces are designed for ordinary users who will apply the service every day. Simplification of procedures is a definite plus. Besides, the possibility of interaction with both state, commercial and non-profit organizations will open up new horizons that were previously inaccessible to users. For more information, please read the section “Use cases” on the project website. (https://datum.org/?locale=en)
The relations within the Datum ecosystem are governed by smart-contracts
Finally, the main advantage of the platform is that users will be able to selectively sell anonymous data in exchange for DAT tokens. Thus, unnecessary fees and mediators are eliminated. In order to conduct any operation on the platform you will need these DAT tokens which you can purchase during ICO or get in the result of providing the resource for storage and access to the data. I must say that there are many campaigns with DAT tokens distribution currently taking place.
ICO
In order to purchase DAT tokens, make a contribution to the platform development and be one of the first to reap benefits of the advantages described above, you can take part in the ICO. The token sale lasts until November 29. Soft cap 5,000 ETH was already reached during the pre-sale. 3,000,000,000 DATs are supplied and no new tokens will be created. You can also support the project and earn token by participation in the bounty campaign (term see here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2140513.0)
