Things to know about the hard fork Ethereum in January 2019

in blockchain •  6 years ago

Hard fork Constantinople Ethereum after many delays has been determined to take place on 16.01.2019 at the 7,080,000 th block. However, you may not know, in January 2002, Constantinople is not the only fork of Ethereum.

Three hard fork Ethereum for a month
There will be three hard fork of Ethereum taking place in the first month of 2019, so there are some important things you should know about this event:

Hard fork Ethereum Classic Vision - 11.01.2019: Anyone who holds an Ether will receive an Ethereum Classic Vision (ETCV) in a 1: 3 ratio.

The Ethereum Nowa fork - 12.01.2019: ETH owners will Get Ethereum Nowa (ETN) at 1: 1 ratio respectively.

Constantinople Hard Fork - 16.01.2019 (or sooner): Constantinople is scheduled at the Ethethum block of 7,080,000. This is the most important hard fork, a stepping stone to the transition from the Proof of Work protocol to Proof of Stake.
Note: Ethereum Classic Vision and Ethereum Nowa is a fork made by a small part of the Ethereum community, unrelated to the original Ethereum project of Vitalik Buterin. Only Constantinople is the main hard fork made by the Ethereum team.

Binance claims to support hard fork Constantinople
Not long ago, the biggest Bitcoin trading floor in Binance announced it would support hard fork Constantinople.

As you know, hard fork Constantinople is said to achieve general consensus in the Ethereum community. However, there is a low probability that other hard fork may occur when developers and other Ethereum community members want to maintain their own version during the Ethereum network upgrade.

Therefore, the Binance side has officially announced to support hard fork full Constantinople as follows:

“Binance will confirm that it will support Hard Fork Ethereum Constantinople. Please take the time to complete the deposit before Blockchain reaches the 7.080,000 block height.

We guarantee that all technical issues related to this event will be handled smoothly for all who hold the Ether in the Binance account.

Hard fork will take place at block number 7,080,000

Estimated Time: From 14.01.2019 - 18.01.2019

If there is any other hard fork or airdrop in the period of Constantinople, Binance invites these respective project teams to contact us at [email protected] for further discussion. ”

What do these hard fork mean for the network and the ETH price?
Ethereum currently faces more fierce competition from other Blockchain like EOS, Cardano, Zilliqa, ...

Although all the other coins have fallen nearly 90% in value over the past year, this does not change the fact that fork branches tend to weaken the overall strength that the main Blockchain network attracts, especially when Developers began to choose a separate path to switch to forming new chains.

If Ethereum's competitors continue to grow steadily, while Ethereum divides into different branches, this will make the community fragmented and never able to operate at the same scale as EOS. or Cardano.

For ETH prices, long-term predictions after hard fork are often inaccurate because we don't have any bases to analyze. However, in the short term, we can expect some significant fluctuations because the market will certainly be ready to "jump" into any new coin born from the hard fork coming.

This is good news for new coins to appear after the Ethereum hard fork succeeds. On the other hand, hard fork Constantinople will help Ethereum switch to the POS protocol and be an important milestone to provide some short-term bullish momentum.

Finally, it is difficult to determine exactly which Ethereum chain will affect the network or price in the short term or long-term price movements. The important thing to note is that Ethereum is currently in the midst of an important transition period to be able to determine whether it is still Blockchain dominating Dapps in the coming months.
