In my search for a blockchain-based store for scientific data, I came across Lunyr (https://lunyr.com/), which appears to be a a blockchain-based, peer-reviewed attempt to replicate Wikipedia. It seems that the current solution for storing decentralized, distributed, disparate sets of data is to create a new token on the Ethereum blockchain to track references to files stored in IPFS. I think this is a reasonable, but not elegant, solution.
