DATA – THE NEW BLOCKCHAIN SHERIFF FOR ‘AD FRAUD'

Research has shown that while the advertisement industry pulls in revenue amounting to $27.5billion, for every $3 spent on advertisement, fraud gulps $1 which estimated that some $18.5 billion would be lost annually as at 2015 owing to fraud-related activities. On this statistics, mobile accounts for 30% of all revenue generated by digital advertising in which it also enables fraud through either faking mobile traffic or hijacking devices and filling ads in the background. But a new sheriff is in town!

DATA, a decentralized AI-powered trust alliance created by Blockchain Data Foundation Ltd hereafter known as ‘BDF' in Collaboration with Yomob International Co., Ltd. The DATA platform and its token, DATA Token (DTA) will serve as the backbone of its blockchain based advertising infrastructure. Uncontrollable ‘Ad fraud' recently led to about 37% of advertisers saying they are willing to pay more for certified, human traffic, according to research. On the blockchain, DATA works specifically, by gathering granular information encrypted into a built-in peer-to-peer data storage for sharing across the entire network. This goes hand in hand with a reward system to incentivize users. Subsequently, varying rewards are streamlined to appropriately suit customer's attention consumed on ads served in games or apps. This will be tailored to suit each user's personality making adverts irresistible.
One of the reasons why ‘Ad fraud' seems impossible to overcome is buried in a centralized system. The downside of the centralized ecosystem is that bad elements have created alarming amounts of ‘malvertisement' thwarting efforts put in by the Advertising Bureau (IAB) to check the ecosystem. Some of the challenges that DATA hopes to resolve are to decentralize data to increase integrity, encourage transparency to curb prolific fraudulent activities, ensure real-time precision and extinct monopoly of data. These are the factors that make users feel unsafe having their personal information and data in the open. This factor on its own kills any urge in advertisement users, in trying to protect their personal information or data. These times are different; people expect so much value especially of the services of communities they create to be shared with them, in as much as the blockchain presents new ways of sharing that perceived value of the community to its users, DATA leads in this aspect.
Keeping a check on the system becomes achievable as DATA analyzes behavioural patterns that help to subsequently conclude if the user is a real person or a fake bot by enabling websites and app developers to integrate DATA SDK to their stacks and process a transformation of computer or device into a node of the mobile P2P storage and DHT. DATA collect users' activity logs, manages reputation modeling and calculate the reputation score based on the activity data, get activity logs and reputation data stored in the DHT and read data from DHT.
