Challenges faced by merchants.
Acquiring new customers.
Any merchant out there that are still operating offline finds it hard to find new customers. With the numerous technological advancements, it is often rare to find myself doing anything offline. That includes finding a good coffee spot, a good shopping mall, an ideal restaurant etc. The diversification of information and e-commerce channels has greatly influenced and changed my user behaviour.
Convenience stores and online stores are taking over this space and steering customers away from numerous merchants.
Establishing repeat customers.
Merchants often have a hard time getting customers to come again. Acquiring a new customer is not nearly as hard as retaining one. The way out is for merchants to establish a trigger for repeated visits which they can fully control.
Going to shop or have dinner on a certain spot, again and again, depends on some of the small details that will entice me about the place. Services that work in my favour will have me going to the same place for a long time. This is usually a challenge currently.
Brand building.
Running any business requires many brand awareness campaigns. These need to be often and long term as well and involve collecting reviews from a large number of people. The main objective of any business owner out there should be trying to get their business recognised on a global scale, at most. As a consumer, I will only be interested in a business that is highly reviewed be it on an online platform or otherwise.
Hearing or reading about other peopleβs positive opinions on a coffee shop or restaurant will make me eager to try out the place as well. The biggest challenge that merchants face is competently collecting reviews from a large number of customers.
Material waste.
The lack of constant engagement and real-time communication with customers often leads to material loss which often causes numerous problems such as disposal costs as well as environmental issues. Even worse, material loss usually has a direct impact on profit.
