The IRS e-filing system has been having major problems today. Direct Pay and the E-file system have been down and experiencing so many issues that tax officials were asked to hold off on submitting tax forms until they got it fixed. They're going to attempt a hard reboot, but an official told Congress today that until they figure out what was causing the problem, they couldn't rule out outside interference like a cyber attack. You can read more details in my story on Heavy.

This led me to wonder... Would the tax filing system be more secure if it moved to the blockchain? I'm definitely not an expert, so rather than providing my own thoughts on this, I'd love to hear yours. Do you think the IRS should move to the block chain? Or would you rather that government agencies steer clear of all that for now? I'd love to hear what you think in the comments.
