In #defi we code saving, lending, banking, moving money, and so on; to self-executing programs that exist on a kind of Database (blockchain), that is prone to modification to some good extent.
A machine does not care about most of what a bank or institute employee might care about when serving you.
and about the degree of modification, Openzeppelin provides a service that allows Smart Contracts to be upgraded.

Also, #solidity provides functionality that allows total destruction of a Smart Contract; which I don't see why it is not deprecated yet.
