Binance, one of the biggest cryptointercambios by volume of operations according to CoinMarketCap, has had to refute continuously the accusations of a pirateo since its exchange has disappeared unexpectedly due to server problems.
It was assumed that offline time would only last several hours, but, similar to Kraken's extended idle time of more than two days in January, Binance has since announced that they will only be back online on February 9 to 4am (UTC) (11:00 pm EST).
While Kraken was punished by its users for its relative silence and only sporadic updating during its 48 hours without service, both the exchange Binance and its CEO Changpeng Zhao have been updating their Twitter every two hours with progress reports and guarantees that they have not been pirated:
We will maintain communication at difficult times. Those are hot wallets, only a tiny % there. But it should be clear your coins are safe. We wish disks moved faster. We will engineer around them in the future. Your encouraging words is all we work for. https://t.co/1i0Dw3YjV1

However, some on Twitter have repeatedly accused Binance of covering up a hacker, especially a notable person from the crypto world John McAfee, who wrote on twitter that even though he was not "trying to spread FUD", he had been receiving multiple reports alleging that Binance was really pirated:
In response, Binance tweeted that "Blockchain, fortunately, provides a public ledger that can disprove any FUD" and provided its addresses of Ethereum Wallet and Bitcoin Wallet to prove that all the money is there:
Zhao also responded to McAfee saying he would "prove he was wrong":
But you are spreading fud. We will prove you wrong. https://t.co/QTuK6t2ZS3

But you are spreading the fud. We will show you that you are wrong.
At the time of publication, both the Bitcoin and Ethereum reserves provided by Binance show positive balances of $ 263 million and $ 151 million in currencies, respectively.
