Zero-sum Games, Speculation and the Sickness of Gambling

The more one makes through lucky speculation, the more likely he will eventually lose it the same way. Addictive gambling is a sickness not satisfied by winning enough. One must focus on earning income by providing a service.

Cryptos are risky because there is much zero-sum speculation going on. The chances of them providing a future service is the only reason they continue to hold value.

Adding Value

Steem offers the value of social media. Bitcoin still is pioneering the ability of fast transactions and immutability. Other cryptos compete with Bitcoin by offering various features. Despite all efforts, Bitcoin is usually the preferred exist-currency for other cryptos. I see it being the entrance currency of a new age of value-based cryptos.

I've argued before that cryptos by themselves do not really have value. An electronic commodity such as bitcoin must have some value temporarily in order to push blockchain forward, but eventually like the lamp-post in Narnia, it is bound to slow or even decrease.

Work-based Currency

The end of spectacular gains from cryptos is coming. And it is time for work to be the driving force in cryptos.

This is what I hope will happen. Inventors will continue to lead out, in the best ideas. Programmers will create a better technology. A laborious movement will bring more users and mainstreaming. Patrons will pay full price to own this better money. Liquidity will be a given. Safe investing be will easy and give fair returns. Inventors, entrepreneurs and workers will build a better world, giving good karma to this money.

Let me clarify about work and currency.

A good currency stays level in value. Then users can lend safely to entrepreneurs. They pay employees to work who build something useful. This makes the world better and gives good karma to the money. The user is paid a part of the profits for investing in the project and providing cash flow.
