A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE
As a kid, watching your favorite cartoon (Superman) in the 90’s and seeing your super hero arrive in the nick of time to save the day just before the villain takes over the city! The feeling is neither abated in your teens as you read your favorite Harry Potter book as he defeats lord Voldemort nor is it silenced as you follow James Bond through his endless heroics, last minute intrigues and pulsating but exciting tension! Ever thought of what the endings of these memorable movies would have been like if the super heroes failed to turn up or arrive a second late?
Such is the feeling when you see two mighty powerhouses (Blockchain Technology and The Global Packaging Industry) faced with strenuous challenges that is threatening to undermine their enormous potentials in the future.
BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY
In a nutsell, block-hash cryptography, decentralized distributed ledger technology, the breaker of global centrality, first of its name, and giver of innovative power in everyone’s hand. A lot has been said of it, perhaps one of the greatest innovation of our time, especially with plans to integrate IoT (internet of things), in the coming years, this is bound to revolutionize the world; from banking to education, sports to e-commerce, fund-raising (ICO/ITO) to even the global packaging space. So far, several start-ups have sprung up using cryptocurrencies to raise millions of dollars to facilitate budding projects which some have seen success in utility and otherwise; most notably Bitcoin- the first crypto and Ethereum - A smart contract blockchain platform.
THE ISSUE
We have seen what blockchain as a technology and cryptocurrencies as an emerging force can bring to the table in terms of revolutionizing the world, when it’s placed in the right hands. Unfortunately, in the hands of wrong individuals, developers and marketers- we have seen several "white elephant" projects that have failed to see the light of day.
According to Investopedia, a staggering 80% of ICO’s are scams! Wired also reported MtGox exchange issue, one of the biggest hack of all times that is still in the news many years on. A larger percentage of ICOs are concerned with how much money they can raise in the short run, a faceless whitepaper that is copy and pasted, A road map that leads to nowhere, An amateur team (with mostly fake photos) and a marketing team that goes blank after the ICO is done- All of these have painted cryptocurrency in a negative light, inherently making it a den for scammers.
Now, that is the challenge the industry is facing. Several projects are put forward, plans are made and funds raised but when it matters most, implementation is non-existent. For instance, if an ico claims to change the film industry and after raising huge funds, the project fails to see the light of day (through hack, inefficient team or outright scam), subsequent genuine projects may not receive such positive support.
GLOBAL PACKAGING ECOSYSTEM
Moving slightly away from blockchain challenges, in this case, the focus is the global packaging space. With myriads of obstacles debarring this massive industry; ranging from time wastage during transactions, uncertainty of market, trust, quality etc. (please read more on our article “challenges bedevilling the billion dollar global packaging industry”) coupled with the enormous potentials and opportunities present in it (As Reported by Smithers Pira and business wire), the dangers of letting such a great project fall into “evil hands” cannot be imagined.
“It’s better late than never”
THE PERFECT TIME
A project dedicated to quelling the frailties endemic in the global packaging ecosystem which has been lingering for several years is long overdue. Some of the features the project must have includes:
●Years of professional experience in the packaging industry
●Hard working Team of Blockchain Experts
●A well detailed Roadmap
●Strong Plan for a working Prototype
●Passionate Global Partnerships and Collaboration
●Dedicated and Experienced Advisors
●A secured and efficient platform that solves all global packaging problems, future scalability plans and much more.
Can you think of any project that have these qualities?
Concluding the article on a movie note as it started, just as Maria Von Trapp (Julie Andrews) sang in 1965 classic movie, sound of music: “Brown paper PACKAGES tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things”… Packages are parts of our lives The Global PACKAGING industry needs a revolution.
