I just found an exceptionally interesting back story to Ernest Lobet's testimony on the Holocaust. Turns out a man by the name of Denis Avey has been claiming to be the British POW that befriended Ernest and who wrote to his sister for him eventually getting a package filled with cigarettes and chocolates.

This story "The Man who Broke into Auschwitz" which of course he wrote a book about and went on tour promoting has been called into question even by establishment entities including Yad Vashem. Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust turned Mr. Avey down when he applied for their "Righteous Among The Nations" award, stating that his story could NOT be substantiated.
Dr. Piotr Setkiewicz, The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum's head of research told Reuters that he find's the story of Denis swapping clothes with a Jew and then sneaking into their part of the camp to be false.
So if Mr. Avery is full of it why mention him at all?
Because it sets a precedent for people alive at the time of and who participated in WWII. People who are willing to this day to lie about seeing Gas chambers and to lie about seeing Jews being clubbed all day every day for no reason at all. All so they can make a buck. These are the claims made by Denis Avey and others like him but there's no mention of atrocities like this by the Jews who were actually there. In fact Ernest Lobet very clearly states that when people got beat, it was by other inmates. Jews beat jews when someone got caught stealing and Ernest states very clearly THEFT WAS RAMPANT!
As for the gas chambers, like so many other testimonials, Ernest never saw them. He makes two brief mentions about "being told" or being "oblivious" to people being gassed but for something that was supposed to be so unavoidably obvious happening within earshot, and that was being conducted on a daily basis supposedly processing thousands a day these holocaust Survivors of the Labor Camps make no mention of anything to substantiate such claims of mass murder.
I can no longer in good conscience refer to them as "death camps", "extermination camps", " or even "concentration camps" since they imprisoned everyone unwilling to support the war effort at these camps, not just jews. These were obviously Labor Camps and everyone was put to work. The Germans very clearly wanted them to be able to work, not die. When they did start dying there was little the Germans could do about it. They were being bombed right alongside them by British Fire Bombs. All there supply lines had been cut and they were being advanced upon from all sides by among others the British, the Americans, and the Russians. All allied forces deliberately bombed civilian targets and the British on record did it with the intention of goading Germany into bombing them because Hitler DID NOT WANT TO!
