I am actually glad to be back to work and back to normal routines from last week. I took last week off to spend time with Caleb and there were even a couple days we got to spend with the hubs during my time off as well. I am well rested, and ready for my regular routines.
We had a very big change during the last half of June and all thru July in our house and I'm ready to share the tale with you all.
After 15 years total of Brad (the hubs) working for one company, he decided to make a big move. It was scary and exciting, but heartbreaking and happy all at the same time. I was so scared because his income would be a little different. He's still making the same amount of money....but for less hours (thankfully) but it's not on a salary like before. He's paid mostly on the work he performs. While I am very sure of the hubby's capability in performance (because he really is good at his job) it was still a big scare for me to not for sure know just what his check will be each week. That's the scary part of the change...
For the "happy" part.....we have had the wonderful pleasure of having the hubs home on Sundays now with us....and Caleb and I could not be happier. Brad is able to spend some time in the mornings helping Caleb get ready because he no longer has to leave at 6:30, but instead at 7:15. He get's home about 15 or 20 minutes later so the time during the week is a wash right now, but we are excited because he no longer has to go to weekly "punishment" meetings that last until 7-8pm with 2 hour drive home and working every other Sunday. The new company he works for is closed on Sundays and they don't have a "finance program" like the previous company.
What's exciting right now is that the store he's at is number one in the area ever since Brad started and the region already has plans for his own store to manage in the next 6-8 months.....I don't worry about his performance. :) Most importantly is that Brad is happy and able to perform to his best, the company is not degrading to him and is very supportive.......um AND we get the hubby home EVERY SUNDAY!! If you only knew just how thankful that Caleb and I are to have him home on Sundays with us....it's such a huge blessing for us. I know, we kinda aim low on the blessings, right? ;)
Now, the heartbreaking part was that when he started at the new company he went from his last job on a Saturday, directly to starting his new on Monday. So he did not get to use his vacation time off. They will pay him the time but we didn't get to take our vacation to Houston so Caleb could see the international space station. It was heartbreaking, to say the least, when we told Caleb that our plans had changed and that we would not be taking our family vacation this year. He was sad for sure, but I did explain to him that I would still take off the week and because Brad works on Saturdays, he always has one day off during the week and together we would take him to his beloved "Lego Land" on that Friday. After that conversation he couldn't care less about going to see the space station....he just wanted to play with the Legos at Lego Land.
Now on to last week....I took four days off of work to spend with Caleb, so we could go to some fun places, like Lego Land and I am off on the weekends so we also did some fun stuff then too. I thought I'd share a couple photos of our "Stay-Cation 2018"....I hope you enjoy.
Caleb and I first went to Chuck E. Cheese for some pizza and many, many arcade games. Caleb is really good at arcade games. :)
On Wednesday we went to a place called Going Bonkers....and let me tell you...I most certainly did! This is a two story building with jungle gym and climbing stuff from top to bottom. The kids go absolutely crazy when they see this place for the first time. This is like a kid's paradise but to a parent its more of a nightmare. The building echoes so bad that all the screams from the many children just radiate throughout the entire facility.
Caleb is up on the very top....though you probably can't see him there.
On Friday we had the hubby with us and that was our best day yet!!
Our first adventure was seeing the new Hotel Transylvania 3 movie theater....I'll admit, it could have been better. But isn't that how it goes? Number 2 and 3 are never as good as the first.
We went to the Rainforest Cafe to eat lunch. It is filled with greenery, trees, electronic moving animals, lighting and sounds of the rainforest while you eat. It's truly a wonderful place to visit. The food isn't the best in the world, but it's a place that I think you should take your kiddo to see at least once.....um if your in the Grapevine TX area that is. LOL Caleb just kept getting out of his seat and roaming all over to see the many animals moving.
Then we were off to Lego Land.....this was what Caleb had been waiting for all week long!!
On Saturday, the hubby had to go back to work, but there was still some fun to be had on a Cub Scout event at the Frontier of Flights museum in Dallas.
And for Sunday....well by then we were all so very tired. Brad working in 107 degree heat and Caleb and I roaming all over the metroplex doing loads of fun stuff was too much for all of us. So on Sunday I was catching up on some much needed laundry and bad tv shows that I love. Brad and Caleb were busy trying to beat Jurrassic World game on the new Xbox system. It was a perfect end to our week and very relaxing day to spend at home.
Well I hope you enjoyed my little post and will come back tomorrow when I resume all the makeup stuff like usual. I've got a couple new things to show off and a look I created using the Lemonaide Craze pallet from Maybelline. But for now, I hope you have a great Monday and I will see you real soon. Until then, take care.
