Do experts write worthless blogs?!

in blog •  7 years ago

Have you ever noticed intelligent, highly trained people, tend to write up very technical bland boring blogs?

Full of technical jargon:

Highly academic people know so much, that they can’t help themselves. They full their blogs up with technical words. For everyday people in the street, they don’t know or understand what those terms mean or how to relate to them.

And academic people tend to write full length script reports, instead of interesting easy-to-read content. And so their long winded executive paragraphs, without any gaps, are seen as a blur, just a sea of blar-blar words!

So what do people really do?

People no longer have patience these days. They want facts quickly and easily. They don’t want to plough through a whole field of words!

So what actually happens, when people check a website and its blog?

  1. Not only must the headline titles be eye catching, fascinating and motivating, the sub-title must suggest and give an idea of the blog’s purpose, before people will click on the headline title. Your headlines are like a mini advertisement! It maximizes the chance of people reading your blog.
  2. And the first paragraph on the page is very important. Its part or position is naturally considered the introduction to the contents of the blog. Basic facts must be there, to indicate what the contents will possibly hold and provide. But don’t give away every fact at the beginning, just enough to intrigue folks.
  3. Not only that. They quickly scan down the blog’s content for the most important keywords… the words and stuff they hope to find. So bold them some words, to highlight the way through your blog. Not too many, just a few of the important factors.
  4. Because they scan, they don’t read whole sentences or paragraphs. They digest only what appeals to them. So cut-up and reduce the size of huge paragraphs into smaller ones, each with its own theme topic.
  5. Sentences must be short and action packed, where possible. Describe things in simple language. Allow the words and thoughts to flow freely and naturally. It’s easier and quicker to read.
  6. And people read less and less as they skim down the page. So bold sub-headings should be injected, to break up huge paragraphs. And dynamic and captivating enough, for people’s imagination run rite.
  7. Each sub-heading should be bold and eye catching enough to pull people down and through the contents of your blog, right down to the bottom. Subheading like headlines in themselves and therefore should be fascinating and factual in its introduction to the paragraphs theme it heads.
  8. Don’t make your blogs too longer either. If it gets too long, consider where you can divide it.  Sometimes we are so excited about a topic, than we can easily go off at a tangent. And that tangent could easily be made into another interesting blog

Making contents more acceptable:

Blogs must be unique and useful. Things other websites don’t have or are missing out on. And people are generally surfing for interesting useful information and fun stuff.

  • Here your personality, how you speak (your writing jargon), skills and talents come into play, especially if your main subject or topic is up against what is already out there.
  • People want to be entertained. Have a good laugh and filled-in with the latest gossip, news, etc.
  • Tap into the human side of life, things people can relate to and quickly grasp and understand at a glance.
  • Even questionable stuff that people can think about and debate on. Questions are likely to entice comments and into-action, which in turn can build an inter-active community. The type of topics you write about, naturally build that type of community.

Sort Order:

Yeah, "they don't have patience anymore".

Unfortunate but true. This scanning you refer to leads to our digestion of more and more content in less time. No wonder that reading books is becoming ever more scarce these days among people!

That's the way it is ,ok. But sooner or later we'll overtax our brain with all this information overload, and not only that, the entire scanning of texts and key word search comes devoid of any Joy in the process of reading

I think when we put our Heart in our work the Universe naturally guides our words in the direction you describe it here.

These technically high level readings are those which I could read five times in a row, and the moment I finish them I forgot already what the content was, so boring they are for me. As if my brain's natural propensity is inclined to outsource anything that isn't important for my INNER learning and/or passion.

Thanks once again! :)

You know what publishers of books say? They declare soft or hard cover books shouldn't be written like internet blog's content. But it time I think people will get even lazier and won't bother to read hardcore books anymore. Barbara Cartland realized this years back, and she made her paragraphs short, even containing one sentence only! She also threw out all the unnecessary dribble from the plot.
As to attention span, when people are listening to a talk, they used to hold their attention up to about 20 minutes. Now you are lucky if they hold their attention for 10 minutes!

Yes! I too thought posting very short text snippets might be an option here because people's shortened attention span closes up quickly. But I then again think it is a bad joke to only post one sentence. Quite a consciousness split indeed!

a realy good post dear @artguru, my opinion is, that the personality is very important for the account and his success. thats is whats make us different from others

Yip, variety in all things! And some people sparkle and are more fascinating to listen to than others!

People no longer have patience these days. They want facts quickly and easily. They don’t want to plough through a whole field of words!

and when they dont understand it easily they post comments like this
nice post,thanks for sharing,amazing post
bdw you highlighted some important aspects which one should keep in mind while writing blogs

Aaah! You are braver than I, to say what you said. I've been skirting around that, trying to be polite!
I've been trying to get people to come out their shells, spread their wings and fly. Enjoy the communication aspect of commenting. By sharing our thoughts on topics, we learn how other people feel and react about things. And that helps us all, to understand what people really want to see and read on blogs and websites.

Hope I haven't made all my advice to seem a military command.
Sometimes I wonder I'm saying the same old thing, over and over again.
But saying it in different ways, helps those who didn't catch on the first time, may hit a new understanding cord for them.
I learnt this with teaching art. What some people understand, others don't get it. It goes right over their head. But if I put it across or demonstrate it completely differently, they suddenly and excitedly catch on what is happening.

Now this is one way to add value to content. I have to admit am a victim to all you've said. I've not been keeping attention to styling up what I write; Missing bolding, writing long paragraphs without subtitling, keeping out the brief statements. This surely is a big step am going to be making in my steemit journey as I change how I present my content. Thanks for the lesson @artguru.

The way I look at it, is that arranging or injecting interest in blogs, is fun to do.
Understanding the way people think and do things, helps you write up better blogs.
But remember rules of do's and don'ts can be broken... if you hit on a better way to do it that's great. And your topic may require a different way of doing things too.

thanks alot foir sharing the right way of making worthy blogs and yeah your rightNot only must the headline titles be eye catching, fascinating and motivating, the sub-title must suggest and give an idea of the blog’s purpose, before people will click on the headline title. Your headlines are like a mini advertisement! It maximizes the chance of people reading your blog. i agree that people watch those blogs which are according to your suggested rules i really like to appericate your work for the betterment of blogs @artguru

Yip. Not only making headlines advertisements, but making them WOW-announcements!

absolurly right because the mind set of people is to have something much excitement!now my blog will become good by following your insrtuctions!

i agree over this and you have helped more people to make a creative blog which can attract eyes, the points that you mentioned are basic and are necessary, however a blogging platform must be taken into consideration, By knowing the ins and outs of your blogging platform, you’ll ensure that your posts look as good as they can. Take the time to master the visual editor so that you know how to format a post, insert an image and embed a video or podcast.
Whether you’re working in platforms such as Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter or steemit, it’s good to stay up to date on the features and new versions.
If you’re not comfortable with the more technical aspects of blogging, try to find someone who can be a resource for you to answer questions as they arise...

The reason why I haven't put up podcasts and videos in my blogs or on my website, is that I sound so different to my actual voice when I'm recorded. I even shudder when I play back a recording.
That is to say, first impressions don't always suit the actual inner personality or the capability of the person!

Blogs must be unique and useful. Things other websites don’t have or are missing out on. And people are generally surfing for interesting useful information and fun stuff.

Yeah
It's true, all people need to see in your blog is it's uniqueness from what other websites have, something interesting that people can copy from, this makes it outstanding ,how you make it unique shall involve the how you bring out the fun, your skills, how you speak in your blog.
Thanks for this educative post for us to learn from.

You’re right. This is exactly What do when I read a blog.

Good advice. I agree that the introductory part of the message (title and first paragraph) is crucial. You need to be able to interest the reader. But it's also important not to make your message too long, it can be tedious. A good blogger can maintain interest in the reader throughout the text.
Create a unique blog and find your topic - this is the main component for running a successful blog. Many have to spend a lot of time to find the topic that will appeal to both the writer and the readers. You wrote that you have come a long way to achieve what you have now. This should motivate others to work diligently.
Thank you, I liked your message

You talked about a very important subject matter. Here in this committee, this topic is also aware of and this particular content is not posted or posted, I think you have presented a very important topic.

We need to keep accurate knowledge and ideas about creativity, because creativity is very important in bloggers.

I think that there is a complete understanding of creativity, and an important content should be presented through stirring and there is a great amount of military and good content to be taken from here.
