Writers are visionary people!

Well, they have to be, to write exciting stuff. To conjure up a story, we first need to see it in our `mind’s eye’, before writing it.

What is imagination?

  1. It’s when an idea comes into your mind that you find fascinating and worth exploring.
  2. Your mind requires a tangible form of it, so the idea starts to form a vision or a picture in your mind.
  3. Then the mind wishing to find some way of using it starts to formulate a method on how to use it.

But what do you do with it?

Do you make something because if it, or write about it? Use it all, part of it or reject the silly idea altogether?!

Let us consider our options:

  • Where can we use it? And can we expand and embroider on it? Turn it into something really exciting?
  • This evokes more idea visions in your mind. And then the possibilities run wild. And you think you could easily write a story with all that incoming info, that’s coming quick and fast into your mind!

Now the moment has arrived…

When you sit down to write it:

Okay you saw and have the vision, but now you have to put it into words. Not so easy to begin with! Why is that? You feel you can’t write it quick enough to get it all down on paper.

You have to be patient with yourself,

To carry out the vision:

You have seen the ideas (in your mind), but now you need to `hear’ the drama of the vision, to write it authentically.

That’s a strange thing to say, don’t you think? No. Not really. You see, in order for people to understand and visualize your story, you need to involve their senses, by using sound-words.

Examples:

To make the scenes in your story sound authentic, you need to set up the ambience of the scenes. So you describe the setting or background to what’s happening:

  • Wasn’t it a great day, with the sun shining and birds singing happily?
  • Consider what are the people in this scene you’re writing, actually saying to one another?
  • Was the brook they were standing by, running and trickling over stones, making the scene sound peaceful?
  • Was that someone whistling for them to come home?

…Now do you hear sounds in your vision?

What else do you need?

Colour! Why colour? Blending and contrasting colours evokes emotion. People react to emotional stuff. Examples:

  • She blushed bright red, she was so embarrassed! · It was winter time, so the grass had turned a beautiful golden bronze shade.

You also need action:

Your story is boring without action and movement. Examples:

  • She was so glad to see him; she ran and threw herself in his arms. But, he grabbed her shoulders and pushed her away from him. His eyes were angry…

Conclusion:

A writer has to see, hear and feel the things of his or her imagination, before they can write effectively.

Good authors have to be emotionally involved, to draw out and deal with the `meaty’ part of their stories.

PS: People also are drawn in by smell. So use words to describe how juicy a thing is and how it smells.

  • This is especially important for those who want to write about exciting cooking and recipes.
  • But you can also describe the smell of a burning house or grass fire.

God bless you and maintain your wisdom and energy at top level so we can charge our discharged batter of wisdom and knowledge.

I love writing thought provoking blogs. Also having to express your idea in just a few words, there is bound to be more meanings and ideas hanging just there behind the simply written words.

Well, there are different types of writers and different types of topics to write on. I am not a good writer but I can say, you are very right.
When i am about to write something, i need the whole scene in regular parts in my mind. Otherwise, i get confused in ideas and i stop making any progress.
One should really be completely dissolved in to write something worthy.

I don't have the whole scene before me when I'm writing a story. I start with an idea and consider the back ground plot. But once in the story, `walk into it and look around' checking the weather and terrain to see what my characters are facing and dealing with. Also allowing the characters to take over their story according to the personalities I have given them.
And if you are writing an informative blog, it's not all imagination, it's also relying on personal experience and knowledge gathered over the years and being aware of people's needs..

You are absolutely right

imagination is a things in which there is no limit,no Boundaries and you need to pay taxes lol😂😂😂...like you like someone you go on a date without inviting her can have romantic dance without bothering her that's d power of imagination

I had a good chuckle! Writing is like having a dance with one's self! You hear the music and take off in a trance of nonsense!

yes i agree with artguru 🙂👍

Very interesting! Every time you write as if I see, hear, and feel through your words @artguru! To be honest, my imagination plays.

I think you would not mind giving some specific responses to the story I wrote.

Every man imagines before doing anything. How would he do it, how would it be better if Of course it should be done. Thanks @artguru

I just want to say that this post will help you to change life.
Thanks for sharing.

Between reality and imagination a long distance and a vast marathon that the writer must cut to the last breath, to achieve an artistic goal and not others, even if not compatible with the reality much or exceed it or jump on the many data, imagination is the greatest man possessed by the expression Borges, and the point of separation from reality not It is a reality that is accumulated to the extent that it has emerged from its natural development and has been moved to a more significant and deeper level to characterize many of the most complex and difficult aspects of life.

Yes we do live between reality and imagination one way or another. It's fun to fantasize don't you think? But we each have to come down to reality with a bump, and face what's happening in the real world.

A thoughtful person or a talented person can see success in his work, so I think the thoughts of our mind will always look beautiful.

Agreed.
And you are the example of one.
Cheers. Have a great day

I love your “how to” blogs, @artguru. You are so great at diagnosing challenges and prescribing the perfect remedy for writers to excel. I have always had to work on being patient while writing. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for your thanks, because this post is very good to me. From your post I try to learn something new and know something new Thank you very much for your.

It is better to work with imagination or planning before work. Thank you very much for this post.

I think that imagination is the foundation of every creative person. Imagination is essentially a test case with the creative. A real writer, through his imagination, can see in his brain a picture of the passing one and transfer it to paper in the form of text. Not everyone can do this, but many can develop this skill.
Another major component is emotion. Without emotions, you can not create an interesting story. If the story itself is a black and white picture in the brain, then the emotions make this picture colored and saturated. Then as the author sees it in his imagination so he conveys this in his work. This is my subjective opinion.
Thanks for the great tips, I liked it.

The whole point of me writing the way I do about writing blogs, etc is to help others to develop their writing skills. So I was pleased you said what you did. Even I, enjoy making it a learning curve. There is always something new and exciting to learn.
There are many emotional `colour-blinded' people in this world. Their lives must be boring and hard going without the imagination gift!

Yes I agree with you. Better yet, the writer should be able to give the implicit message in his writings to the readers.
Thanks for sharing us.
Have a good day @artguru

Pretty intesesting steps on how to make your story a bit exciting like adding sounds and colors plus the actions, they determine whether the story will be a big hit or not. Keep up the good work.
