I Love Everything About Myself! [Self Love Exercise]

in blog •  7 years ago  (edited)

So I'm doing this project called Cycle Up...

In this project you choose an experience that you want to have, choose a set amount of time to have that experience, and then share your experiences along the way. Then at the end of the cycle you create a reflection piece that shares what you learned in that period of time.

In this cycle I chose to experience self-love for 7 days. I chose this cycle because last week I did a cycle where I vlogged for 7 days straight and what I noticed was that there were a few times where I experienced a lot of straight up shitty emotions.

I noticed that there were times where I was being super critical and hard on myself, which was actually very difficult to deal with, especially considering the fact that I was creating and posting public vlogs every day.

At the end of the 7 day vlogging cycle, I realized that it would be a great idea to do something that explored these negative thought patterns. So I decided to love on myself for the next 7 days.

In this self love cycle I'm just exploring new ways of loving myself and finding ways to love more parts of myself that may not receive my love as often as it should.

For instance, a few weeks ago I noticed that I didn't really like how my hair looks and so I started loving on my hair and it was a really fascinating (and actually pretty crazy) experience.

Today I chose to do an exercise that I've done in my improv classes before. Basically what you do is say the things that you love about yourself as fast as you can until you can't think of anything else...

In example, you'd say something like...

"I love my hair... I love my house... I love Steemit... I love my girlfriend... etc, etc..."

When you can't think about anything else, you say "I love everything about myself!" and then do 10 push-ups.

You can do another rep of those after that and see how far it takes you.

What I love about this exercise is that it gets you into a really positive state of mind because you are just fully focused on all the things that you love about yourself.

It's hard to feel bad after saying so many things that are great about who you are.

The exercise is super simple and if you have a moment, I would totally recommend giving it a shot.

You can watch me doing it here to see how it works:

It doesn't require a camera though - you can just write it out on a piece of paper or in your journal. Or just say it out loud if you're feeling confident and if you truly do love yourself that much.

OR, feel free to share what you love about yourself in the comments below because I'm always down to hear how love gets around ;-)

Let me know how it goes if you give it a try!

Awesome. Glad you gave it a go!

Very nice. Self-love is key because without it, you have nothing else.

So true! What else is there without love ;-)

Thank you
