This is an anti-capitalism art performance & activism for solidarity & ecology.
I made this photo in Rovinj, Croatia. It was the first city in Croatia in which the local government has forbidden collecting of the plastic bottles. Due to the generally very poor economical state of our country, somehow our moral obligation was to react on this prohibition cause a large number of people earn some extra money to survive the each month, to pay the bills & buy food. We didn't want for the chain reaction to happen so that other cities start with the prohibition too.
Two problems are being solved by collecting the plastic bottles: economical & ecological, at least a bit.
In the background, you can see the beautiful & the most romantic city in Istria, Croatia - Rovinj - the cityscape.
seriously? they banned collecting plastic bottles? What possible reasoning could they have! Is it a form of discrimination against homeless / poor people? Seems very strange. Good job bringing some attention to this issue. cheers - carl

Yes, they really did ban collecting plastic bottles. It is sort of elitism they want to be part of. Rovinj is a highly touristic city & I guess they don't want for their guests to look at poor people checking the trash for plastic bottles. Probably the collecting of the waste is quite well organized.

@juliank & @photocontests, I posted this photo as an entry to the cityscape photo contest but I didn't get any confirmation that it is accepted? What happened? Did I wrongly tag it? Can you please check & let me know? Thanks.
