Fuck man... Where do I even start with this? I've never been both angry and sad at the exact same time as strongly as I am right now. How do you reverse views that are imprinted from birth? How do you explain to this child one day that his parents were wrong about everything they taught him? This is where hatred comes from. It is a TAUGHT behavior.
This child is going to grow up hating minorities and having absolutely ZERO idea why. Unfortunately, these views will likely be reinforced by those he is in opposition to because of their reactions to him. Show me a person of color who wouldn't snap at the sight of a young man in a KKK outfit? The people he is hating for no reason will begin to hate him, for justifiable reasons, which will only strengthen his views against them.
How the fuck do we combat this cycle? Love? Sounds simple enough until it is time to practice it. Try convincing someone to lovingly accept a group of people who hates them because of their appearance. Try showing affection to a group of rabid individuals shouting obscenities at you as you try to live your life in peace. There is no escaping this.
Human beings can sometimes just really suck. I am usually great at finding a silver lining in most situations but this photo has me at a loss. Fuck dude... We are no better than animals, in fact we are worse. Because at least when a wolf rips out the throat of its prey, it never had the option to communicate first. We are a species following animal-like tribal instincts when all we have to do is speak to one another. These are dark times my friends.
I don't think it ever subsided. Hate is only waiting once an opportunity arises and if people let it swallow them whole. Can never fight anything by yourself.
