Is Bitcoin a fad?

in blog •  6 years ago

Could it be a fly by night? Not in my opinion because the bitcoin and altcoins universe are just getting better and more applications are being developed that will give the next layer of adoption an advantage. I talk about Steem a lot because it is my favourite technology so far, and I've elaborated on many of its advantages already. Today however I noticed something else.

Kik did it.

They have integrated their Beta marketplace with Kin tokens. You can earn 100+ Kin just for watching the tutorial video which I just did.

You can see that it's just part of the messaging app now. Not too much, but subtly and there it is. 2019 and 2020 will be golden years for new adopters as Bitcoin turns 11 and begins to mature.

I wanted to show you this because I think it illustrates another good point about social media trends and the critical mass of users will discover crypto and to them it will all be magic internet money. This will be easy to use, integrated across all social media seamlessly and whatever creates the most attention wins.

Kik already has a massive userbase, I have only been using it for about 2 months but they all can now have Kin tokens. That's pretty cool.

I will go back to Steem for a moment, which has also had a great success with community development and innovation. Steemians have created SteemMonsters a steemit based card game , as well as SteemEngine for creating tokens pegged to SteemP. dTube is the highest paying category trending, and dsound is a great way to add audio to your story. If you have a long term project you want to develop, create a fundition campaign and work towards your goals posting your progress and finding new followers.

If you are a web developer you can use utopian for your git, or if you want to do something in exchange for Steem you can check out SteemGigs. There are so many projects you have to visit SteemTools, this place is a hypertext sandbox of excellence, or esteem.

Bitcoin is not a fad but the beginning of a whole suite of software on chain that is user friendly. Steemit has in fact pulled this web3.0 datalayer off, and Kik just added Kin to their messenger.

Kin is not like bitcoin. But it is working at solving a problem, like how do we send/recieve value to all our friends. How do we approach mass adoption? We have to consider all angles and I was looking closer at Kin a while back, I should be able to find my last look at it by searching Google for kin kik darkflame steemit.

I wont be able to count the number of dapps across all crypto from Eos to Tron to ERC20s by this time next year. Dont forget about BATs which are built into the Brave Browser. Users are paying trusted publishers BAT tokens now. You can surf faster, and save on data by using Brave.

These and many more are all essential projects, worthwhile ideas, and I dont like to put them at odds with one another. What would the future look like if all cryptos became huge successes? Let's try to work towards that. Like anywhere, people polarize to what they like. I tend to be really focused on Steemit because it's what fits best and has been most useful to me.

Consider the others

To stay balanced I continue to read about new things every day and look at a few coins each month in something I call CoinsResearch. You can participate by researching any coin (you can find them all at CoinGecko or CoinCap) and using the #coinsresearch tag. I encourage everyone to stay open minded but also use a skeptical eye to discern and discover amazing new Bitcoins, even these stupid forks because I think in the future coins will be all be somewhat compatible or interchange, used by different people for different reasons.

Just stop forking bitcoin. We need to work together here please. We have this multi layered ecosystem that is decentralized but also growing into a global community.

Imagine everyone has their own personal blockchain, using perhaps different types of encryption. We would sign for all sorts of things from payments to purchases to gifts and donations, maybe using our own unique token. More than just money Blockchains might be what your smart devices will use to order groceries and the drones and other autonomous robots will use to oversee their daily operations.
