First I will leave this little piano song that plays in some key moments in the mission I am about to tell:
Beware there are a few spoilers ahead
There is one part of the main story in Enderal, where the mission consists in finding 3 black stones that will be used to build an important artifact. Each of these stones have their own stories and plot, but there is one of them that is quite special.
The story starts with a wealthy man who has an abnormal child with some deformities. He believed his son was cursed and he sent him away. The mother however, decides to give her child one of the valuable jewels belonging to the father (the black stone).
Eventually, we arrive at the village where the son is living and to our surprise, he is still a child despite being born decades in the past, and the villagers are friendlier than normal, everyone is happy and the village seems like a little paradise. This is one of my favorites moments so far playing this game, imagine hearing the song from the video above and finding yourself in an eerie village where people are always happy, and the adult you are looking for who should be full of deformities is a happy and healthy child...
After doing some silly missions with the child, he accepts to give the black stone but only if our character stays with him forever in the "happy" village. Being an RPG, we have the option to give several answers but the outcome I believe is always the same in this case.
Once the child gives the black stone, the stone's power manifests itself in the form of a monster that we need to defeat in battle. Right at the end of the quest, we return to the village and everything is dead, the people, the trees, even the buildings are pretty much destroyed. In the child's bedroom we find a grown man dead full of deformities.
It turns out, everything in the village was controlled by the black stone and in trying to make the son happy (which is something that he had never experienced before), the stone created an illusion where everyone was happy and he was loved. The villagers were only doing things that will keep the kid happy, and they were alive only because the stone kept them alive. After the spell is removed, we see the harsh reality that everything was fake.
Right at the beginning of the quest I knew something like this was happening, but it was still a great experience seeing it playing out. A great quest in a great game.
By the way, this quest is called "A Song in the Silence".
This is another cool song that always plays in moments where our character is teleported to a distorted past where weird things happen in his childhood home:
At last, here are some screenshots I took of some interesting looking statues in a mountain:
In the last pic we can see our character's father looking all normal cutting some wood, but things are never normal when we are teleported back in time to this place...
song is incredible, the story sounds like exactly something i would be interested in and your description of it is fantastic also. I'm gonna look this one up because i want in! Nice post pal.

Thank you. This is just one of the quests of the main storyline in Enderal, which is a game that can easily last more than 60 hours. It is like having a new Skyrim which is absolutely awesome for me.
