Thursday is here along with another throwback video game to look at. If you enjoy this post and feel that it is worthy, please do leave an upvote and follow me for more.

Sonic was one of my favourite cartoons to watch when I was young, especially Sonic X, so I was very excited to play Sonic Heroes. This game marked the first Sonic game to be released across multiple platforms after Sega had transitioned to a third-party developer.

The game consisted of 12 playable characters, split into 4 teams of 3. When playing as a team you could easily switch between the 3 different characters, each having different abilities to help you to progress through the levels. Each team also came with their own story line, and an increased difficulty in the game. The story lines run simultaneously alongside each other, adding further depth as you play through each one.

Fitting in with the Sonic lore, the game of course had to incorporate chaos emeralds in some form. These could be collected in bonus levels under timed conditions, and from what I remember these levels could be very difficult.

The game also had a multiplayer mode with split screen. This allowed you to play with people in the room with you and use team work as a way to progress through the levels. I always used this game if I was playing with my sister and in fact is probably the first game I introduced her to.

As well as having multiplayer in the story mode, there were also multiplayer mini games such as races. This gave the game a competitive element and made the game more rewarding for those who had people to play with.

Sonic Heroes is one of the games from my childhood that I always want to go back and replay. Hopefully I'll get round to it again at some point. This game can be played on an emulator if you would like to give it a play. However, please be advised downloading a ROM if you do not own a physical copy of the game is illegal and I do not recommend it. You can also pick up a copy of the game and play it.

Another week is over for this series on my blog. If you liked it please do leave an upvote and if you want to see more you can follow me. Also be sure to leave a comment if you have something to say and I'll try to get back to you.

Loved playing this game on the PC. Now I'm going to have the theme music stuck in my head all day!

Haha. Sorry, not sorry.
