How to Instantly Spruce up a Caravan

Champagne taste on a beer budget. Some say it's a bad mixture, I say it depends on how many beers you drink.

Champagne is possible on a beer budget

I don't like to settle when it comes to the things I like. I'm a very aesthetically oriented person. Some people don't care what their surroundings look like and sometimes I think that must be nice. My mood and creativity are very connected to my surroundings.
Because I like nice things but have a not so nice things budget, I don't buy things often. My husband is the same, thankfully. We'd rather have four very nice chairs than a bunch of other things as well as four not so nice chairs. You get the picture.
Because we don't get a beer every day, we can have a bottle of champagne every now and then, figuratively speaking.

Carla the Caravan

Carla was a champagne purchase. We had skipped a lot of beer before we could get her but it was so worth it. We have gathered as much as we could from our home and my parents' but we still need a lot of things. We are trying to balance what we absolutely 'need' to make life work versus what would be nice to have. We want to make this a fully functional second home.

An instant improvement

One of the few things I'm not crazy about in Carla is the drapes.
I was told I just had to live with them, but I don't trust everything I'm told so I took a closer look and after a minute I figured out how to take them down! The improvement was instantaneous and didn't cost us a thing.
I have photos of this but I can't get them to upload. The WiFi is spotty at best here. I hope to keep posting but can't promise anything.

A nice to have

Sometimes a cheap and easy way to spruce up a caravan is with a plant or three. Here, I opted for the cheap version, i.e. Ikea. The plants work great in the caravan although I've not decided where to keep them just yet. One is on trial on the bathroom sink.

Looks nice next to the sink! I'm sure as time goes on you will find those little things that can be done to make it more pleasing to the eye as well as being functional!

Thank you. I hope so too. Carla has really good bones but she needs that homely feel.

The window dressing often makes all the difference in the world to a space. I find that having useful things also be decorative instead of just having decorations really helps a lot - for the plants, it might be worth it to get an aloe plant, for instance, which is very useful and pretty. Sometimes it's good to get nicer pots and pans that you can hang as part of the kitchen decoration (not necessarily in a caravan!) rather than put up pictures. And so on.

Have fun with Carla!

I agree! We have gone that route as well. I've been looking for an aloe plant for our home (it would die in Carla) but they are very expensive so I'm looking for a barter deal to show up :)

Here's hoping you can find a bargain or maybe a friend with an aloe pup to pass along...
