Hey Steemians, it's been awhile and by awhile I mean almost two years! Life gets busy sometimes I guess.
Since both of my kids are in school now I needed something to do with my days so I became a vendor at my local Farm Market. My little business is called Goodcorner Creations and I mainly sell baked goods. I went into this thinking everything would be peachy and I would sell out of my products every week, then reality hit me as it often does. Some weeks are great and others just suck. I currently sell white bread and rolls, brown bread, brown bread with raisins, cinnamon raisin bread, cinnamon buns, crusty herb bread and chocolate chip cookies. I was wondering if maybe some of you could take a minute and give me some ideas of other baked goods that you would like to see in your local farm market. I can only sell shelf stable goods as I do not have any cooler space.
I have some empty space in my booth because the bottom shelf is not far enough off of the ground to have food products. I have asked the board of the market if I could start selling string art. I believe I will be approved because there isn't anyone else currently selling it. My issue is pricing. I have no idea how much to charge. When I have some pictures of my completed work maybe I will post them and ask for your opinion on what I should charge.
I am wondering if anyone else here is a vendor at a Farm Market and if so, what do you sell? Do you have a time of year that is slower than others? I have spoken to a few of the vendors that have been at our market for years and they tell me that there is a period of three to four months where sales just seem to drop off. I am hoping that now that it is just about Spring things are going to start picking up. It has been such a long, cold winter and I think that has kept a lot of people home. I know I haven't really felt like being out and about in the snow and cold.
If you have any suggestions or advice for how I could be more successful in this market endeavor please let me know!
